Good morning Green Sprout Peeps!
I would love to hear about your gardens! What new things are you growing, and are you having any issues so far? I'm getting a slow start this year in my garden, but I'm confident that it will catch up. It always does!
I’ m sure you have all heard that we are going to be blasted with cicadas this year, and they are starting to appear. My sister has found a whole lot of them in her yard. I have not yet seen any in my yard, but I’m preparing just the same. If you have any small trees, I would suggest wrapping them to prevent the cicadas from laying their eggs, as this can damage the trees.
Oh and 1 more thing have you ever heard of blackberry winter? This weekend might just be it! Blackberry winter is a term used to describe a cold snap that often occurs in late spring when blackberries are blooming. It is believed to help blackberries start to ripen by providing a period of cold weather. This phenomenon is a longstanding weather folklore that farmers and gardeners have observed over the years. I have to say some of not most of these old wives tales seem to be pretty accurate! Pretty cool huh!!
I would love to hear your experiences!!
